Instant seeks a passionate Product Designer to supercharge our product ambitions.
Instant is a technology company on a mission to power the world's most innovative brands, driving their revenue and retention on autopilot. We have grown revenue 16x in the last 6 months, and want you to be a critical part of scaling up this velocity even further!
Product Designers own the user experience and interface design elements of our software development lifecycle. They primarily work upstream of our product development teams, designing user flows, wireframes, prototypes and mockups, to represent the future of our product. Along the way, they conduct research to test their ideas and the current state of our product alike. Additionally, Product Designers engage directly in the solutioning and development processes to assist in decision making.

Goals of the Role:

Our apps are easy to use, with highly-discoverable and accessible features. They are consistent from both a visual and interactive perspective.
Our users love the experience of using our product and actively recommend it to others.
The needs of our customers and prospects are thoroughly consulted in our product development process.
Thanks to reusable patterns and great upstream research, our product design practice accelerates the software development lifecycle, rather than slows it down.
We have a library of quality UI components that is easy for our engineers to use and is consistently maintained.
Research is thoroughly documented and shared with the broader team and company.
Data is intelligently and transparently consulted to aid decision making wherever possible.

As a Product Designer, you will:

Conduct user research and testing → To build great software, we must make decisions that are informed by our customers and prospects. Product Designers are responsible for the orchestration and documentation of user research through activities like user testing, interviews, surveys and comparative analysis.
Develop experience and interface designs at the right level of fidelity → Product Designers can create design assets at various levels of detail and fidelity (e.g., user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes). They know what problems are best informed by these various types of output.
Champion design standards → Our prioritisation of standards like usability, discoverability and accessibility are important for us to build high-quality software. Product Designers should not only take these into consideration when producing designs, they should evangelise the prioritisation of good design standards across the team.
Empower the team with reusable patterns and practices → Product Designers should never be a bottleneck in the product development lifecycle. Therefore, they empower their teams with reusable design patterns (e.g., UI components in a pattern library) and practices (e.g., guidelines on how to build experiences; mobile-first design).
Balance where we want to be with what is possible now → Product Designers encourage pragmatic and iterative product development through designs that can be implemented incrementally over time, while always keeping our long-term goals in sight.
Share your learnings → Product Designers gain many unique insights into user and market needs that must be shared with the wider business. They encourage a culture of learning and sharing, with every task viewed as an experiment to be validated.
Enable teams to deliver → Product Designers empower their colleagues to make better user experience decisions at a faster pace. They focus on upstream research and guidelines that speed up the software development lifecycle, rather than slow it down. When required, they engage our teams to assist in decision making when solutioning or completing work.
